Ghost Bead Necklace - Turquoise (Green)

from $65.00

Ghost Beads and Square Green Turquoise Beads

The use of Ghost Beads comes from the Diné Enemy Way Ceremony typically performed for warriors who have returned and have been affected from spirits/ghosts and evils encountered during the battles they fought. This ceremony is also sometimes performed for those in general who have been affected in similar ways.

There are some varying stories how and why the Diné started using Ghost Beads in this manner but a common practice now is for protection against evils such as bad ghosts and evil witchery done by sk!nwalkers. The juniper berries are collected after they have been hollowed out by a small insect/creature and are sometimes lightly smoked to further cure them before being strung and worn.

Although this practice of wearing Ghost Beads originates on the Navajo Nation and the indigenous of the Southwest these are offered to ALL people as a way of aiding in protection and promoting peace, balance and harmony called Hozhó.

Turquoise is also used for protection and promoting balance so naturally they pair together for even more protective work.

These are made with prayer and intention by Samuel. Often there is a purposeful mistake sometimes referred to as a spirit pathway or spirit line that allows the spirit of the artist to exit the piece leaving only good thoughts, prayer and energy allowing the piece to do the work intended.
